Doctor Who Shoes by Ittarius Doctor Who Shoes by Ittarius
My Doctor Who shoes! They only took a few hours - I was very excited to get them done. I'm thinking of putting something on the back, but I'm not sure yet... As is, it's just brown on the rest.

Materials:
Some white shoes I found in Target (thank you, Target! You're the only store in the world that had what I was looking for)
and acrylic paint (I'm a little worried about it wearing off, but I didn't want to spray it with any clear coat because I don't want it shiny.... I'm open to suggestions :) )

All the credit for this fabulous design goes to :iconligechan: from this: [link] <3

EDIT: OH MY LANTA!!! I was not expecting this much attention! :faint: Thank you everyone for the kind comments, views and favorites! It's very much appreciated! :glomp:

Ditto! Are there any tips you have of how I should use it? I'm gonna follow the directions, but you know how sometimes things give you wonky directions... ;)

Ok- Beth says the stuff she got recommended using 2 parts textile medium to 1 part pain, but she found that a little too thin for her preferences, she says try using about equal parts textile medium and paint, she says a great way to check to see if you have your mixture right is to paint a small portion of cloth (or shoe or whatever) with your mixture and then let it dry, then wash it. If it comes our dry and flakey, you have too much paint, if it comes out with the colors being all see-through and rubbery, you have too much textile medium. However she says it's a subjective art, not an exact science, so to try playing with it and see how you like it. :) The ideal result should look like exactly what you would normally paint, but flexible, not stiff like "Oh I think I can bend this!" but regularly flexible. Good luck!

These are AWESOME. I am going to try and make some!! D:< (<---Very excited face.), if you don't want them shiny but do want them protected, you could try using a clear coat and then throwing some cloth you don't want to use over top of them so they still have the right texture and have a clear coat!

You can get matte varnish.
lol with that, I can't even tell where I've done it. but just sprayed it for assurance

acrylic mostly waterproof, and you can somewhat tell when you do it, if it looks pretty stable.

i've done some in the past, and they have proved to be fine. and I have asked someone about it, and they had alot of experience, and they even said they dont even see a need for varnish at all!

though I have done some paint in acrylic, and sometimes it ends up cracked and stuff.
but, tbh, I could tell when I was doing it. it was either cheap paint or I layered it up too much.

it looks like it'll be alright.
I think you'll get away without varnishing it

but let me know how it goes. I'd like to know if it ever cracks.

Oh, okay. I've done some in the past with acrylic, too, and the paint lasted longer than the shoes for the most part. But I think it's pretty good paint, anyway, plus it's not on very thick.
But thanks!

You know what you should do next? Make long socks with the Doctors' heads coming out of the shoes, and then the remaining space used like a background for the Tardis.

I sprayed mine with a matte fixative, and that seemed to work pretty well and didn't give them a shine at all. :meow:

If you want to seal them, you can get matte sealant, and it won't be shiny.
